Changes happen at the speed of light. Or at least that is how it feels at the moment. Don’t get me wrong, it is still the end of the semester and I feel, personally, that life has come to a complete standstill, but the changes that are happening, have nothing to do with the momentum of life around me. No. It has to do with me and my body and my newly found dimples!

I love dimples on other people, but not me. I don’t really know why. I think it has to do with the fact that my dimples are not where other people’s dimples are: on the cheeks when they smile. No. My dimples are at the top corners of my smile and on my chin.

Revving Up

Like it or not, I’m in the pace laps of a race where parts of it, I’m not sure I’m ready for.  For one, Kyle is entering into a stage of life that I thought I would have at least a few more years to go.  Secondly, a new semester is upon me and it is one where I need to be organized to succeed.  Then, there is the fact that I need to complete so many unfinished projects here at home.

That seems like a lot going on, but the fact is, it is rather normal.  In fact, I’m certain that there is more going on that what I posted.  You see, entering into this semester- and 2010- I’m faced with my son’s upcoming trial and my Dad announced Christmas Day that his cancer is back.  This last fact is why I hate holidays.  I just cannot handle them anymore!

On Valentine’s Day 2007, the doctor gave my mother a year to live because her cancer had come back.  Easter 2008, my mother passed away a week after.  I had one day of her being lucid enough to talk to me.  The next time, she couldn’t remember people’s names.  She kept calling me, “Mama.”

So, as you can see, this is going to be a tough time all the way around.

As for Kyle, View full article »

1st Disaster of 2010

I just love moments when you really need to have a video camera rolling because the events and ensuing aftermath are funny… after they have already happened and not in the midst of them.  I’m sure that at 2 a.m. I was not enjoying what was going on at the time, but in retrospect, I have to honestly say that it was hilarious.  It didn’t give me pleasant dreams all night, but it was hilarious… until I walked into the kitchen in the daylight.

It seems that when CJ brought the Christmas boxes down from the attic, he forgot to close the hole again.  Of course, we all know what is living in my attic, so I don’t have to mention a certain “No-Toed-Freak” namely Jack Rat (Jacques Rat).  Dang!  I said I wasn’t going to mention him…oh well… I’m certain he’s history now, which is why disaster struck.

I had heard a scuffling sound in the attic a few days ago and I thought that I had told them to take care of it, but they didn’t.

Mind you, lying in bed, almost asleep at 2 a.m., the last thing that I want to hear is the sound of a loud crash and glass breaking.

So what happened?

Well, it seems that a certain 100 lb View full article »

Ahh!  I just love Christmas!  The sights, the sound of children crying when they don’t get what they want for Christmas, and the gifts that just scream, “What were you thinking?  Do you not know me at all?”

Yes.  I love Christmas!

But most of all, I love the fact that every once in a while, my MIL comes through and gives me a gift that View full article »

Christmas Blessings

Christmas gift suggestions: To your enemy, forgiveness.  To an opponent, tolerance.  To a friend, your heart.  To a customer, service.  To all, charity.  To every child, a good example.  To yourself, respect.  ~ Oren Arnold ~

When my mother passed away in March 2008, it placed a huge chasm in my family.  My brother and I ended up on different sides of that chasm with each of us feeling betrayed by the other.  It was my thought that the family would have stayed intact.  Instead, the growing rift between my brother and my dad grew even wider.

In the months following her death, we each tried to grieve and problems arose that created turmoil.  There became moments where you just did not know who to trust.  The aftermath of it all:  Terry and I had not spoken to each other much at all.

So fast-forward to this Christmas.  View full article »

Check out my friend’s Nascar themed Christmas story at:  http://jgrchristmas.blogspot.com/2009/12/prologue.html

You have to start at the prologue and then read each chapter, but it is entirely funny and stars Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, and Joey Logano.
