I’ve been rather happy that this week has slowly been dragging by.  The reason:  Sunday is the last NASCAR race of this season.

Yep.  In just a few days, the 2009 season will be behind us and we will have to wait on the 2010 season to arrive with Daytona in February.

Wow!  That seems like such a long time to wait.  I mean, for myself, it means no more standing in front of the TV screaming at a driver who obviously can’t hear me or even cares.  It means not having to fuss about the obvious “Jimmie Johnson Show.”  It means *gasp* not getting to see Tony Stewart’s smiling scruffy face on TV (though lately, I haven’t seen him smile much) because I’m such a sucker for those gorgeous brown eyes of his.  It means View full article »

Walking down Pit Road at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Walking down Pit Road at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Well, I must say that I think I found my new racing home and it is Charlotte!  Even though Jimmie Johnson won, I still loved the whole experience with a few exceptions:  Pit Road passes/Driver Introductions (I will save my money because it really wasn’t worth it and I’ll explain later).

When my CH arrived home from work Saturday morning, we set out to leave.  I had to drive us because obviously, my CH had worked all night and was tired.  It is okay, because I really love to drive.  In fact, I’m more comfortable driving than having CH drive us, because between you and me, his driving scares me.

Charlotte Bound

Just a quick post before we leave for Charlotte, NC to attend the NASCAR race this evening.  I know, it is very early, but we wanted to be able to not feel rushed and the fact that Clemson is playing today means extra traffic in my neck of the woods.

Hopefully, I’ll come back with lots of wonderful pictures of our Charlotte Road Trip!  Unfortunately it is raining here.  I hope that this is not going to be the case all day as I don’t want to have to stay wet all day!  Oh well…..

As long as no one spontaneously combusts, we will be okay. ;)

The Day the Music Died

I know, it sounds like some cheesy line from a song… oh wait, it is from a song.  Anyhow, something very unusual happened this past week which made me think back to that very day that the music died.  It just so happens to be the day my Mom died as well.  Depressing, I know, but when I think back on how everything came to one huge culmination, it is more than depressing, it’s downright ironic.

You see, I had been sick and depressed for a long time:  3 years.  I had been to so many specialists with no one knowing exactly why I was sick, or even what I had.  After watching me deteriorate, my dear CH said View full article »

I have mentioned before that I’m a closet NASCAR fan.  I’ve also mentioned before that I’m a huge Tony Stewart fan.  But did you know that for the last 9 years I haven’t sat down and watched a race with anyone?

It’s true.

And do you want to know why?  It has something to do with what happened during Sunday’s race… View full article »
